Internal Launch of Circular Building Assessment, 6 June 2018, Guimarães, Portugal

In a building project there are many decisions and calculations regarding choice of materials, products and components as well as design and assembly. In order to make informed decisions, developers and designers need easy accessible ways to compare and see outcomes of different building materials and design choices in relation to resource productivity.

The BAMB Project had an internal Launch of Circular Building Assessment in Guimarães in Portugal. Circular Building Assessment is an assessment approach and method that aims to provide a holistic evaluation and interpretation of multiple sustainability aspects of buildings and their parts.

Jan Boström (SundaHus) and Gilli Hobbs (BRE) presented the tool for Circular Building Assessments in Portugal. Good to no longer count on “cradle to the grave” without seeing buildings from a more circular perspective and instead counting from “cradle to cradle”. Hopefully, our prototype of a tool can show that it is easier and more automated with BIM models and other “complete data sets”.
